The Oyster River Alumni Association connects the families of teachers who have passed away with the Oyster River school district to create and support meaningful memorial funds that benefit current Oyster River students in their memory.
Pam Raiford worked in the Social studies department at Oyster River High School for 22 years, simultaneously teaching, at times, at UNH. In 2013 she won the State of NH Teacher of the Year award for history and in 2014 she was recognized by UNH for her excellent work, delivering a speech to the graduates in the Masters of Education department. Her work as a teacher, and who she was as a person, will continue to reverberate profoundly throughout the world.
Donations in memory of ORHS social studies teacher Pam Raiford will fund two programs at ORHS that Pam was connected with: The ORHS "Power of One" program and the Ultimate Frisbee Club!
Donations in memory of ORHS English teacher Martin Brewer will be used to realize his desire to bring professional Shakespeare productions to ORHS. One performance costs about $2,700.
Lou Mroz taught history, psychology, health and driver's education at Oyster River High School for 34 years. Donations in Lou’s name be used to support curriculum related to the field of Social Justice, a subject that Lou was very passionate about. Donations in Lou’s name will support ORHS Social Studies curriculum, class field trips, guest speakers, and clubs that explore Social Justice issues. The fund will also occasionally support ORHS students in need of financial support to be able to participate in particular Social Justice related programs or projects.
